YOGA and ART: A Day Long Retreat
A Day of Stress-Relief, Relaxation and Self-Discovery though Process Art
A day of Yoga and Art at the Bantam Borough Hall in Bantam, CT on Sunday June 5th 2011 from 9am – 4pm. The day will begin with a 3 hour yoga class taught by Nancy Opgaard, a break for lunch and relaxation followed by an afternoon of Process Art lead by Pamela Hochstetter. Process Art is a visual way to surrender to the moment. No previous art training is necessary. Just come equipped with openness for a fresh, new experience. You will be encouraged to play with tempera paint on large paper in a judgment-free zone. The pure pleasure of the creative process in applying the paint and your awareness of that activity is emphasized. It’s an excellent vehicle for self-expression, self-discovery and relaxation. Be sure to bring an appetite for inner freedom. The cost for the day-long retreat is $100 and pre-registration is required.
Nancy Opgaard began practicing yoga in 1983 at the Wushu Academy of Physical Fitness in N.Y. She took her first Yoga Teacher Training with Ruth Bender and received her certification as a Yoga Instructor. She went on to study with Mary Dunn, including two years of Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training. In 1998, she took Ashtanga/Power Yoga Teacher Training with Beryl Bender Birch & Thom Birch.
